Thank you everyone for sharing your thankfulness! I’m thankful for my healthy, happy family, being able to enjoy Maui and turkey sandwich leftovers!
My husband and I finally got to go to a Kupu Maui Dinner! It was a special night for an early Thanksgiving hosted by Hashimoto’s Persimmon Farm. We were happy to see a clear, crisp Kula day at the farm with a great view of the valley. We were led on a personalized farm tour through beautiful persimmon orchards. 50+ people were there and we were happy to get a seat inside with the temperature shooting down at sunset. Upcountry in November is so nice! It actually feels like fall.
Chef Lyndon Honda was at his finest.
-Roasted butternut squash soup + sage marshmallow
-Upcountry greens with persimmon jam vinaigrette, surfing goat chevre, and fried green persimmons
-Lavender brined turkey roulade
-Green persimmon portuguese sausage stuffing
-Turkey dark meat confit in duck fat + cilantro + garlic + ginger
-Maui Brew Co. 5 spice gravy
-Old Lahaina Rum Glazed Molokai Sweet Potatoes + persian barberries
-Dried persimmon Ocean Vodka Relish + orange zest
-Persimmon scone + persimmon whipped butter (To Die For!!!)
-Green Persimmon Hash
– Persimmon buttermilk Panna Cotta + persimmon syrup glaze + grilled persimmon
-Persimmon coffee cake + persimmon syrup creme fraiche
We can’t wait for the next one!
Kupu Maui is a pop-up restaurant event. With multiple courses straight from the farm, it’s something not to be missed and tends to sell out immediately.
I am thankful my Husband beat cancer and my Brother made it home from his service in Afghanistan.
I am thankful for the fact that I have a large, healthy family to spend Thanksgiving with. They have supported my goals with love and enabled me to achieve an education in something I am passionate for.
I’m so thankful to be able to return to Maui for Thanksgiving and spend time with my ʻohana. It’s always great seeing them and it’s been a while since I’ve stepped foot on my home island so I am very grateful for that! Hauʻoli Lā Hoʻomaikaʻi iā kākou!
It was a gorgeous evening! For those who are interested, here is a link to the Hashimoto’s Farm:
I was so inspired that they have been there for so many generations, and the trees are 90 years old!
I am thankful for my family, my job, our home and our health. I’m also thankful that I got to see Maui again this year. So beautiful !!
I’m thankful for sunny days and trade winds
